Indiana Bus Accident Victims had Ties to Concord

A former Concord resident and his wife passed away over the weekend after a bus accident in Indiana, according to WMUR-TV. 

Chad Phelps, a youth pastor and son of former Trinity Baptist Church Pastor Charles Phelps, perished in the accident. His wife, Courtney, also passed away, along with another woman, Tonya Weindorf, 51, of Indiana.

According to news reports, the bus overturned in Indianapolis, on I-465, about a mile from the church, after the brakes on the vehicle reportedly failed. The group was coming back from a camp in Michigan. 

Chad Phelps had been a youth pastor at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church since last year. His father also serves there as a senior pastor. 

The Phelps were expecting a second child together. Their first child, Chase, who is nearly 2, survived the crash, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.
