August 4 is AARP Day at Five Seacoast Wineries

Five New Hampshire vineyards will offer free tastings, free tours and other freebies for AARP members on Sunday, August 4.  Participating wineries include Flag Hill Winery in Lee, Sweet Baby Vineyard in East Kingston, Jewell Towne Vineyards in South Hampton, Zorvino Vineyards in Sandown and Windroc Vineyard in Newfields.

“Last year, AARP held a series of open houses to find out what New Hampshire residents wanted from their membership and a constant theme emerged,” said AARP New Hampshire State Director Kelly Clark.  They wanted local offerings – at New Hampshire venues – and the chance to meet other AARP members.  So this is what we are offering.”

The list, location and hours of the five participating wineries follow:

Flag Hill Winery, 297 River Road, Lee

Hours:  11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sweet Baby Vineyard, 14 Powwow River Road, East Kingston

Hours:  12:00 noon to 5:00 pm

Jewell Towne Vineyards, 183 Whitehall Road, South Hampton

Hours:  11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Zorvino Vineyards, 226 Main Street, Sandown

Hours:  12:00 noon to 5:00 pm

Windroc Vineyard, 286 Piscassic Road, Newfields

Hours:  12:00 noon to 4:00 pm

Each winery has their specialty wine – and spirits – so they’ll be plenty to satisfy a variety of palates with taste sensations for the newbie and aficionado alike.  AARP members must show their AARP membership card and photo ID to access the specials.  Directions and other information can be found at www.aarp.org/nh.

“AARP staff and volunteers will also be at each winery,” concluded Clark.  “We encourage people to stop by and learn about AARP in their communities.”

Other community happenings with AARP included discounted admission to Manchester’s Millyard Museum (June 29) and discounted performances to Majestic Theatre’s Cinderella (July 14 and 21).  On November 2, there will be a special ticket price of $10 (regularly $26) as UNH Wildcats take to the ice against rival UMass Lowell.  Discounted hockey tickets are available starting August 1.
