Generous Concord Waitress Gets Surprise on 'Ellen'

Comedian says to Sarah Hoidahl, "You're amazing ... you're a good person."

Whoever says it doesn't pay to be nice or generous to others is clearly mistaken.
Sarah Hoidahl, the single mom who waits tables at Ruby Tuesday on Loudon Road and bought lunch for two National Guardswomen recently who were furloughed during the government shutdown, was interviewed on the "Ellen" show
The segment was the end of the show when the comedic actress and host, Ellen Degeneres, likes to honor a special person and commend them for doing something nice for others.
Degeneres heard Hoidahl's story and asked her how much she made on the day she was waiting on tables and bought the Guardswomen lunch.
Hoidahl said, "$8."
Degeneres then offered to pay her back for buying the soldiers lunch, counting out the $27.75 from her purse. Then, the big surprises came.
