Join us for fun rhythm improvisation games and create your

own songs using instruments made from everyday household items! All materials

Performance Workshop with Gregg Pauley

Students will be coached on matters of technique, practice
strategies and interpretation. Performance workshops are a “public lesson” in
which pre-registered performers are coached by a faculty member so that the
performer and the audience members receive maximum learning.

Abigail Charbeneau (beginning and intermediate adult students)

Music” (currently in grades K-2) with Cathy Kaplan

Love listening to music while you draw? How about drawing the
music you are listening to? The NH Philharmonic has announced its 8th
annual “Drawn to the Music” project inviting children from across the state to
create colorful images based on scenes from Gustav Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer, which the

Philharmonic will perform on March 9, 2014. The performance will be illustrated

with as many of 90 of the artworks submitted to the project. Each 8.5x11”

drawing or painting will become an image approximately 20 feet high in order to
be seen by an audience nearly 200 feet away. Join Cathy Kaplan, visual art

teacher from CCMS’ Creative Arts Summer Camp, and explore the places a great piece of music can take your imagination. No advance preparation necessary. All
art supplies (and music) provided.

With our paper plate orchestra and our very good ears, we’ll
explore musical form (the magic of repetition and contrast) in an active,
participatory workshop.

6pm Improvisation for
the Uninitiated (adults) with Kathryn Southworth

Think you can’t improvise? Whatever your level, come and
explore the possibilities available to you. Learn how to create your own music
as well as enhance your understanding of the music you’re currently working on.
