Scott Brown Rocks with Cheap Trick … Again

YouTube clip captures another sloppy, rocking "Surrender."

When former MA Sen. Scott Brown got to hang out back stage with Cheap Trick at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach last summer, he Tweeted about the amazing guitars he saw. When the band invited him on stage for a sloppy rendition of one of their most cherished songs, “Surrender,” he called it a dream come true.

Well, it’s a dream that keeps coming true.

On Feb. 16, at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium in Massachusetts, the band invited him again on stage for another run through the song and this one, like the one before, was a sloppy blast of fun posted on YouTube.

At least one musician I know who was at the show was upset and called it political opportunism of the worst kind. Although, it’s clear, after selling his house in the Bay State, if Brown has any political future, it’s not going to come from votes in Lynn any time soon.

Earlier today, Brown Tweeted out a post of the video to his 62,000-plus followers, along with pictures from the concert with his wife.

But one has to ask out loud, Is this any way to prepare for a Senate challenge to Jeanne Shaheen later this year? Or even a fight for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, representing the moderate wing of the party?

Cheap Trick is a great band, admired by millions, so it could all be a political ploy. If they are booked to play the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa next year, there might be something to the suspicion. But the reality could be that Brown is just having a bit of fun like anyone else would have if they were allowed to jump on stage with the band.

Cheap Trick has a few days off and then, the band plays in Michigan and Canada. The Casino Ballroom just booked them again for June 5 ... just in time for a fundraiser or get-out-the-vote effort? Time will tell.

What do you think? Is this political opportunism or a guy having fun? Leave a note in the comment section and let us know.
