Heifer Parade at Canterbury Shaker Village Opening Day

Brookford Farm cows return to historic grazing pastures at Village on Saturday, May 3

Canterbury Shaker Village will host an Opening Day Heifer Parade with Food & Fiddle on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cows from Brookford Farm will parade to the historic pastures at the Village at 10:30 am.

 

In addition to the Heifer Parade, Opening Day festivities also include outdoor barn dancing with Two Fiddles, Maypole dancing, head wreath making, and an outdoor grill featuring Brookford Farm sausages and beverages for purchase. Admission is free. The event is sponsored by Centrix Bank.

Self-guided exhibits at the Village will be open to attendees and guided tours on the hour will be available 11:00 am and 3:00 pm for a special fee of $10 per person. For a complete schedule of Opening Day events, please visit www.shakers.org.

Other upcoming events at Canterbury Shaker Village include the Grappone Automotive Canterbury Cross Country Challenge 5k on Saturday, May 10 at 10:00 am; A Star-Spangled Summer Picnic and Auction, the annual gathering benefiting Canterbury Shaker Village on Wednesday, June 25. Upcoming Shaker-inspired workshops include The ABC’s of Letterpress Printing on May 17 and June 21 and Shaker broom making on June 21.
