Pepper spray versus firearms

Pepper Spray versus firearms:

While each has a specific purpose, I just committed a cardinal sin in the gun sales industry according to some.  I sold pepper spray to a person instead of a firearm, and yes I am an NRA member.  The person was in need of protection and with listening to their concerns and situation, it was better advised to have them armed with a potent pepper spray than a firearm.

Sometimes it is better to have the untrained armed with less than lethal options like stun guns, tasers, or pepper spray than firearms.  A not too popular opinion in some circles, but honest and public safety minded.  While I carry and sell both, some people can not and should not have firearms in particular situations.

This I believe is a good business practice and good for public safety. If you are being pressured into buying a firearm over pepper spray, evaluate the business you are dealing with and the quality of their spray.

A homeowner in Concord recently effectively prevented a break in with a home defense can of pepper spray instead of lethal force. It is a choice we have.
