Thunderstorms on Their Way

Hail the size of quarters could hit much of the Granite State.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the state of New Hampshire through 10 p.m. on July 23, according to alerts.

Counties where the storm will hit include Hillsborough, Merrimack, and Rockingham counties, as well as Belknap and other parts of the state.

Expect storms to start at around 7 p.m., possibly delivering hail the size of a quarter, along with damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm is moving east at around 25 mph.

“This is a dangerous storm,” the alert noted. “If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail, and deadly cloud to ground lightning.”

If you are outside, you should move inside for shelter and stay away from windows.
