The second wave of the July 15, thunderstorms hit the capital region with a bang on July 15, knocking out power to 997 customers in the eastern and northern part of Concord, according to Unitil.

The thunder and lightning started around 10:15 p.m. with the storm gaining strength around 10:30 p.m. About 15 minutes later, lights started flickering in East and West Concord, Bow, and Loudon.

Power went out a few minutes after that, with the bulk of the outages being reported in Penacook, East Concord, the Heights, and Loudon.

Public Service of New Hampshire is also reporting outages in Deering, Francestown, and New Boston.

The first wave of the storm hit around 6 p.m. but only brought rain to Concord but hit the southern part of New Hampshire, including the Seacoast, hard, knocking out power to thousands. A tornado warning was also posted for Hillsborough County.
