Power Outages Hit Capital Region

Unitil, PSNH reporting random power outages across the central part of New Hampshire.

UPDATE, 1:47 p.m. A few Unitil customers remain without power in Chichester and Epsom at this hour. In Canterbury, where there are more than 500 customers, 83 percent are without power. Other PSNH customers without power in the region include Northfield (30 percent) and Webster (62 percent). Scattered outages are being reported in Boscawen, Hopkinton, and Loudon. Some PSNH customers in Concord - there are 51 - are also currently without power. 

UPDATED, 11:09 a.m. Tree branches have downed power lines on Canterbury Road in Chichester, knocking out power to about 60 Unitil customers in the area. Hooksett is also reported about 200 customers without power. 

UPDATED, 10:56 a.m. Unitil's outage map is reporting only 12 of their customers in the capital region are without power at this time. The remaining customers should have power in about 30 minutes, according to Concord Police. PSNH customers are still currently without power.

UPDATED, 10:21 a.m. PSNH is now reporting outages in Webster, Northwood, and Deerfield, where 23 percent of the town is now without power. Central dispatch is reporting branches down on power lines and at least one line fire.

Parts of the city of Concord as well as the region are without power at this hour according to outage maps.

More than 1,200 customers are without power in the capital region, most of them centered in Concord. A few outages have also been reported by Unitil in Epsom.

Public Service of New Hampshire is also reporting outages in its communities, including Barnstead, Canterbury, Loudon, and Pittsfield, with Loudon being hit the hardest, with more than 230 customers, or 10 percent, without power.

The exact cause of the outages is unknown at this time but wind gusts around the state are expected to be as high as 40 mph today, according to the National Weather Service.
