NH Coalition to End Homelessness offers training for social service and housing professionals

MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday, May 22, the NH Coalition to End Homelessness (NHCEH) will host a training titled “Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Case Managers.”  The training aims to provide paraprofessionals and bachelors-level professionals with information and skills to work with clients who have borderline personality disorders.  The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Case Managers training will be conducted by Catharine Main, LICSW, and Diane DiStaso of the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester.

“Sometimes, the most effective tools to serve clients are not readily available to case managers,” said Cathy Kuhn, Ph.D., Director of the NHCEH.  “By introducing participants to the concept and practice of DBT, they’ll leave with specific skills that they can use to work successfully with their clients.”

This training is ideal for paraprofessionals and bachelors-level professionals who work in the fields of mental healthcare, community and family services, public healthcare, social work, housing services, homeless services, veteran services, clinical services, case management services, general practice therapy, addiction therapy, intake and outreach work, and child services.  Masters-level professionals that have not received DBT training would also benefit from this training.

The training will be held on Thursday, May 22, 161 S. Beech Street, Manchester, NH.  It runs from 9:00 – 4:00 and costs $95.  Six continuing education credits from the National Association of Social Workers and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors have been applied for and are pending approval.  Registration is required and can be done by visiting www.nhceh.org/dbt, via email at info@nhceh.org, or calling 603-641-9441 extension 259.

The NH Coalition to End Homelessness is a nonprofit organization with the purpose of eliminating the causes of homelessness through research, education, and advocacy.  For more information about the NHCEH and this training, visit www.nhceh.org or call 603-641-9441.
