Big Brothers Big Sisters NH State Alliance Awarded $85,500 from NH Charitable Foundation

MANCHESTER, NH January 30, 2014 - The Big Brothers Big Sisters New Hampshire State Alliance announced today that it was awarded $85,500 through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to support its unification efforts.  This grant is made from the following funds: A. Erland and Hazel N. Goyette Memorial Fund, Bea and Woosley Conover Fund, Bill & Sheila Steele Fund, Frederick W. Cox and Dorothy Thurber Cox Memorial Fund, Monadnock Challenge Fund, Oliver J. and Dorothy Penniman Hubbard New Futures Fund, Philip & Jane Currier Fund, Piscataqua Region Community Fund, Statewide Regional Partnership Fund, Stephen W. and Lucy H. Winship Fund, Thomas W. Haas Fund, and the Vail Family Fund.

 

The four BBBS agencies in New Hampshire have partnered as the BBBS NH State Alliance with the goal of forming a unified organization, BBBS of New Hampshire. The unified statewide agency will retain its strong, local leadership and presence while also affording the organization a broader reach and impact, enabling BBBS to serve more children facing adversity and to expand the service area.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters New Hampshire State Alliance is comprised of the four BBBS agencies in New Hampshire: Greater Seacoast, Greater Manchester, Greater Nashua & Greater Salem, and Western New Hampshire.

According to Charles Pierson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, “the NHCF’s support of BBBS NH is enabling us to strengthen our service delivery model, expand operations and change the lives of children facing adversity for the better, forever.”

 

Collectively, the four NH BBBS agencies provide 1400 children facing adversity with a dedicated, trusted volunteer mentor. It is the stated goal of the unified agency to significantly increase the number of children served in NH.
