A Freezing But Busy Friday in Concord

Here's your weather forecast, information, and other stuff in the city.

  1. Wind Chill? -24. That’s right, you read that correctly. Weather forecasters are calling for sunny skies today with highs in the low teens. However, with a northwesterly wind of 10 to 15 mph, with potential gusts, it will feel like it is as cold as 24 below zero. Overnight, temps drop down into the single digits but the wind will die down too.
  2. Zumba Time. Get out and move at 9 a.m. at the McKenna Dance Center for a one-hour Zumba class with Jessica Merrill. Just $8, newcomers are cool too.
  3. Music and Froyo? Sure, stop by Orange Leaf between 5 and 9 p.m. and enjoy live music. As well, 20 percent of your purchase will go to the Granite State Music Festival. The festival is also running an online drive to raise $8,000 during the next two weeks.
  4. Fireworks and Music Tonight. Black Ice Hockey opens today with fun activities, like a bonfire in the afternoon and fireworks at 7 p.m. Last year, it was amazing. Stop by White Park and check it out. Over at the Concord Community Music School, for two shows, it’s Jazz in January, at 7 and 9 p.m. featuring some of the best musicians in the city.
  5. CATCH Comedy Fundraiser. If you’re looking for some laughs, stop by the Capitol Center for the Arts for this annual fundraiser event featuring the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company at 8 p.m.
