VIDEO: Concord High Sept. 11 Memorial Service

Concord High School held a memorial service honoring those lost on Sept. 11, at the flagpole in the front of the campus on Sept. 9.

Principal Gene Connolly and Acting-Chief John Duval, of the Concord Police Dept., spoke in front of about 50 people, with Taps playing at the end of the ceremony. Members of the Concord Fire Dept., Concord High School band, sports teams, and school administrators were also present.

Duval said it was important to remember that everyone was a part of the fabric of any community.

“Our quality of life and our respect for one another does not happen by accident … it’s a choice,” he said. “It must be cultivated continually and guarded by each and everyone one of us.”

Duval said despite the events of Sept. 11, both the country and the community remains strong.

After Taps, Connolly thanked the 100 or so people for attending and asked everyone to spend some time during the weekend to reflect on Sept. 11.

“Have a good day and take some time on Sunday to reflect back on what took place 10 years ago,” Connolly said.
