Occupy Protester Arrested at GOP Debate in Concord
Activist was previously arrested in 2011.
An activist involved in the Occupy movement here in New Hampshire was reportedly arrested on Jan. 8, allegedly attempting to enter the Capitol Center for the Arts during the NBC News/Meet the Press/Facebook debate being held at the history Downtown Concord theatre.
According to his friends who were with him at the time, authorities at the theatre reportedly arrested Matthew Richards, a student at UNH/Manchester, allegedly attempting to enter the building. His friends claimed that he was injured during the arrest. They also claimed he offered no resistance while being taken into custody.
The Concord Police Dept. would not confirm information gathered at the scene but did confirm that one person was arrested.
Richards is no stranger to being arrested. The New Hampshire Union Leader reported in November that Manchester police arrested him, after refusing to vacate Veterans Park after curfew.

You mean the Kochps had previously singled out this peaceful student for arrest and harassment last year. Please support freedom of speech and truth in journalism.

He would not have been arrested if he had not violated the law. OWS has a habit of disrespecting the law.

The ones disrespecting the law -- and getting away with it -- are the bankers, the CEO's from Wall Street. Where are the arrests of ANY of these people from corporate America who brought down the economy in 2008?

Could anyone from Occupy please try to sneak (and please dress beyond casual) and do a mic check to ask on what these GOP clown think of the current Federal Minimum Wage? Right now, I'm not really able to do this myself. Thanks.

It was through the efforts and self sacrifice of individuals involved in movements like Occupy, that are responsible for equal rights for all Americans, fair treatment of labor, ending unjust wars, and the abolition of slavery. Remember, there were politicians and men of power who fought these initiativeswith everything in their arsenal, they spent the rest of their lives apologizing for their misguided ideals. Some of these movements took decades to achieve there objectives.
While no one responsible for the near collapse of the economy while making billions of dollars to satisfy their own greed has been arrested. Those who have the nerve to exercise their "freedom" of speech are pepper sprayed, beaten, and arrested. There is nothing new here. Throughout our history righteous individuals have had to fight the powers that benefit most from tyranny. The battle will be long, but the sacrifices by a few will benefit the masses as long as they remain vigilant. Force is always used when no reasonable argument can be made to justify your views.

Isn't it rewarding when the other side's only objection to your point of view is your spelling, or some other denigrating remark that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. It usually shows you are on the side of the righteous.
Sincerely,
Rick

He was lucky he didn't get shot by the Police. More then likely he fit into the profile and that is why they arrested him.

I need to know who to get a hold of to change the last line of the pledge from liberty and justice for all, to liberty and justice for the chosen few. Any ideas?

There must be a pledge committee somewhere.
Find out who added "under God" not that long ago.
If you think about each line, you'll probably find there isn't one thing in it that's true.

How about Occupy "GET A JOB"
David Victory
1:50 am on Saturday, January 21, 2012
Most people who support the Occupy movement have jobs. Many do not. Some camp out, while others attend events when they can. Some are young, educated and un/underemployed, others are older and retired. You can find new, enthusiastic participants and some older, more seasoned activists. Some people who are drawn to the camps were/are homeless and/or mentally ill. It's a complex, truly grass-roots movement of people who understand that the vast majority (99%) of America have been having a harder and harder time making ends meet, while the very, very rich are doing better than ever - not from hard work, but from a system that has been rigged in their favor (by them). There's a great deal of solid information about OWS online, but it could take some effort on your part if you really want to understand what the people are angry about. If you don't, you're not alone. Most people find the "get a job" line more expedient.

Seriously? I was in NYC the first week of December, and in Boston after that. Please don't try and tell me those people are employed.

I love how you right wing crazies talk out of both sides of your mouth.
Frist, you blame the Bush great recession on Obama, claiming it is his fault
the unemployment rate is so high. Then you turn around and tell
unemployed people- oh, its easy to get a job if you look for one!!!!!
But o.k. For the sake of argument I will play along. Say this unemployed person that you mock does all the right things. Searches relentlessly for a job- Interviews
well and gets hired. Great!!!!! Just what do you think happens to the person
that would have got hired instead?????? You never thought of that ????????
Thats called zero sum gain. The 'get off your fat ass and get a job" slogan has
great merit in times of strong prosperity. But with 5 people for every job opening
it clearly does not hold water. Most occupy supporters do not or did not stay in
the tents. W#e have jobs and families and lives, and we have all been bent over
by the powers that be.There is a big difference between honorable success
and explotive greed. This destructive greed is what the protests are all about.
