On Oct. 27, at the Ashworth by the Sea on Hampton Beach, the New Hampshire State Grange held its convention and in the evening, recognized a number of residents from across the state for community service recognition awards including many focused on public service.
The following Granite Staters won awards:

How could you possibly equate Rep. Al Baldasaro with Gov. Lynch??!
Baldasaro is an intolerant, anti-Christian, homophobic idiot of the worst kind.
So much for the NH State Grange and its integrity.

Richard, curiously, there are multiple people on this list that are homophobic, which is not all that uncommon. I wouldn't object to someone getting an award purely out of their own personal beliefs.
However, Rep. Al Baldasaro is a special case, because he attempted to foist his bigotry on the entire New Hampshire population by repealing a law which we already agreed upon. They thought that with a Republican supermajority, they could successfully attack gay marriage, but what they failed to realize is that while our state wants to be fiscally conservative, they don't want to be institutional bigots.
So you are right, it's a bad choice, and not just for that issue, either. Fiscal conservatism to Al means cutting our social safety net and giving breaks to big business.

I also question Rep. Al Baldasaro being honored. What for? The guy is a bigot, extremely intolerant, lacks critical thinking skills, and it's not apparent to me if he actually cares about anyone but himself. He exemplifies the angry male legislature we have had to suffer through for two years.

Rep. Baldasaro was asked to attend to honor the two veterans who received awards and later, was thanked for his contributions at the Statehouse for his work improving the lives of veterans in New Hampshire.

I'm looking for that contribution in the bills. Do happen to know what for, specifically? Did he sponsor something? I can think of several representatives who would have been a far better choice, including on supporting veterans.
