Hill, Pittsfield Cops Face Charges in Separate Incidents

One faces assault and disorderly conduct charges; the other, a theft charge on North State Street.

Police officers working the beat in different Merrimack County towns have been charged in two unrelated incidents in Concord in recent weeks.

One, Clint Raymond Cassavaugh, 44, of Concord, works for the Pittsfield Police Department. He was arrested at 9:39 a.m. on May 3, and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. The charges relate to an incident at 175 Little Pond Road on April 10. The alleged victim in the case was a person from Allenstown who had an unknown relationship with Cassavaugh. Cassavaugh, until recently, was a coach for the boys’ lacrosse team at . He resigned from the position in April.

Cassavaugh was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is due in Sixth Circuit District Court on June 4.

The other is Jonathan L. Evans, 56, of Hill, who works for the Hill Police Department.

Evans was summonsed at 4:20 a.m. on May 14 for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. The charge was based on an alleged incident on May 21, 2011, at Pepper Defense Supply on 485 N. State St. Police allege that Evans stole a Road Dawgs vest with patches on it. The Road Dawgs is a New Hampshire motorcycle club “comprised entirely of full and part-time law enforcement officers, active and retired,” according to the group’s website.

“We are family oriented motorcycling enthusiasts who do not bring negative attention to law enforcement, the club or the sport,” the website stated.

According to previous reports, members of the motorcycle club entered the store on the date in question and allegedly harassed the owner of the store for stocking the vests before the alleged theft.

Evans is due in Sixth Circuit District Court on June 18.
