Mr. Edmunds, I am a veteran but that has nothing to do with this as there is no law that requires one to serve in order to vote. It is insane to use the honor system with our most important of rights, the right to vote. If the honor system worked our prisons would not be full.

I'm not sure if you have been following, but the Governor was on board with this bill UNTIL Republicans chose to strip college students the right to use their I.D.'s to vote.
They also extended the affidavit to make long and cumbersome, AND added a photo booth that would take people out of the voting lines, into another line, and back to the voting line. The States Clerks were horrified at this huge extension of the process.
New Hampshire's Republican legislators are drunk with power, god forbid we allow the Governorship to fall to the Republican this fall....

I don't know if you are aware of it but non-resident college students are issue student IDs so accepting one as proof of residency isn't reasonable.

Republicans not only support resident college students voting rights we openly encourage it. It is the non-residents, those whom are not New Hampshire citizens, we want to discourage from voting illegally in our elections. Why is that so unreasonable?

The right to vote is covered by the 14th and 21st Amendments which were after thoughts. The 2nd Amendment is the work of the Founding Fathers. To obtain and carry a firearm, a constitutionally guaranteed right I must show a government issued photo ID, submit to a background check, pay a fee for a license, and submit to a second background check. If I want to carry it outside of NH I will pay thousands of dollars and jump through unimaginable layers of red tape and will often still be denied my constitutionally guaranteed right. And you're griping about having to show any form of ID to vote?

Those college students are also not so stupid as thought. Obama and the phony democrat bull is old and fraudulent. All they really want is jobs like the rest of us. Democrats and Obama as it turns out is nothing but the party of the clueless.

What does a college ID have to do with citizenship? You can't argue that you have to be a citizen, or even legal, as some states have already approved in-state tuition rate for illegal immigrants. At least with government issued documents there is supposed to be some cross-checking (more with real ID being deployed). I went to school in NJ and could easily have registered there with my college ID and in Mass (my "residence" at the time) with my drivers license. You should only be able to vote where you declare your residence, and if you can't make it, that's what absentee ballots are for.
I don't want to suppress anyone's rights to vote except those that don't have the right to begin with.

To register to vote you have to be an American citizen. The issue isn't that illegals will be voting, the issue is that American citizens who can't afford a passport or a driver's license are losing their right to vote because of government bureaucracy. Plus, there is hardly any voter fraud across the country since the Florida disaster. Taking away an individual's right to vote because they can't afford an ID is unconstitutional.

Jon B., What part of free don't you get? As to illegals not voting how would we know? The current system is they send a letter to someone who registers at the polls who doesn't have an ID. If an illegal alien uses there really mail address and doesn't return the letter then according to Governor Lynch and his AG no crime has been committed. You are so concerned about protecting the 14th and 21nd Amendments, what about the 2nd Amendment? I need an ID, background check, license and second background check, and there is a fee. How is that not unconscionable as well?
