Concord Man Sentenced in Mail Fraud Case

Former St. Paul's School courier will make restitution to students.

 

A Concord man was sentenced on Nov. 16, in a mail fraud case where he stole cash and gift cards in order to feed a lottery scratch ticket habit, according to WMUR-TV.

A federal judge ordered David Hammond to pay $470 to St. Paul's School students.

Hammond, who was a mail courier for the school, was caught by U.S. Postal Inspectors after the school became suspicious about problems with student mail.

The investigation started in October 2010, with postal inspectors setting up test mailing dragnet operation. The set up another one in February 2011. Hammond later admitted to investigators that he had been stealing from student mail for a number of years.
